Outdoor Fireplace Fire Pit Designs
HGTV offers some great designs here. Particularly, slides 6 & 9 are my favorite.
Notice in slide 6 how the sweeping wall contains the fireplace are and creates a natural seating and gathering area. However as the wall sweeps down from the fireplace it lowers in height revealing the remainder of the backyard which makes it feel open, larger than it is and creates a sense of motion. Had the height of the wall remained constant throughout the curve, that entire area would feel blocked off and isolated, but the sweeping wall with varying heights opens up the space to make it feel as if it is part of the larger landscape rather than separate.
Slide 9 is a great example of tying in opposing features, water and fire, together to form a larger whole. Naturally water and fire repel each other, but in this example, they offer a balance to each other. Perhaps you take a night swim and its a bit cool out. What better way to warm up than popping out of the pool and sitting next to a fireplace that is less than ten feet away. Notice the angles on the seating area as well. This contains the heat released from the fireplace and contains it within the seating area. Great idea to warm up.
For all of your fireplace and fire pit needs, please let us show you how.
